East Boldre Village Hall - Refurbishment

During the long awaited refurbishment, several improvements have been made to the hall, including:

• Improved appearance and street view, partly restoring the original 1918 appearance of the building.
• Enlarged main hall with better audience facilities, improved lighting and flooring which is more suitable for exercise classes.
• Better access to the small hall/meeting room.
• Renewed toilets and kitchen.
• More comfortable seating.
• Improved audio-visual facilities.
• Improved storage space.
• Redecoration.

After several public consultations and surveys, and advice about décor, lighting, kitchen design and toilet facilities from a focus group, all major decisions were made by the trustees and management committee, and actioned by a smaller refurbishment steering group.

Funding was obtained from a number of sources including the hall’s own funds and local donations but the majority of the funding came from various grants. The initial cost was to be about £460,000 but spiraling costs gave us a shortfall of about £35,000. This is being met by further donations and crowdfunding.
